About this teaching resource
A comprehensive set of mini lessons for teaching the strategies that good readers use. Using Shared Reading and Read Aloud, these Reading Strategy Mini Lessons support the gradual release of responsibility framework, outlining what to teach, having students practise the strategy with you, practise independently in their own reading, and then reflect on how the strategy helped them as a reader.
Choose and teach the strategies that best fit your readers’ needs at the time they need them.
Keep a record of each strategy taught, remembering that strategies can be revisited, by recording the date in the Focus Date box.
Enlarge to A3 and create a ready to use flipchart, enabling you to easily display the strategy and keep the it visible during the learning time.
