About this teaching resource
Conferring with students is a unique and significant opportunity to learn about what a student is doing as a reader/writer as we engage with them side by side during the Reading Conference.
This resource, Conferring with Readers: Assessment Rubric, K-2, allows you to have a comprehensive eye on the child as they are reading, and also during your discussions in your 1:1 conference with them.
It will help you jointly set the next reading goals.
The assessment rubric is divided into:
- Habits and behaviours
- Accuracy
- Comprehension
Use our other 'related; conferring recording tools below as a way to capture your noticings and interactions with the student.
These recording tools allow you to:
- Keep brief records that remind you about what was discussed
- Give the learner the confidence and knowledge to know what they are doing well and what they can do to continue to grow.
