About this teaching resource
This resource Spelling Curriculum: Sample Planner, Yr F:
- Is an example for you, and you are encouraged to adapt it to the needs of your students over the year.
- Provides a sense of what a balanced spelling curriculum might look like over ten days at the Year F level.
- The Foundation year has three schedules to reflect the focus of teaching in the beginning, middle, and late stages of the year, because of the degree of variation in teaching emphases required as Foundation student's knowledge of the English spoken and written language develops.
- Is used to best effect with a great deal of independent reading and writing, and sharing experiences for your students.
'These sample planners are based on the assumption that spelling is taught in classrooms where much reading and writing is taking place, and where students' writing is frequently read by peers. This allows children to see that there are real purposes for learning about spelling.' Snowball, D. & Bolton, F
